Think eight dance floors – some indoors, some outdoors – swaying with multiple musical genres! Performances include Pendulum, progressive trance acts Azax Syndrom, Coming Soon and Class A, and psychedelic trance acts Switch, Cycle Sphere, Dapanji, Orca, legendary DJane Lisa Lashes and more. Expect thundering bass, sensational live entertainment, dancers, body-painted performers, flowing champagne, various eateries, confetti and mind-blowing visuals.

Durban

Smoking Dragon New Year’s Festival

A three-day festival surrounded by the golden circle of the northern and central Drakensberg. Bands include Jeremy Loops, the Brother Moves On, Boxer, Black South Easter and Cortina Whiplash along with various DJs to keep you entertained until the wee hours. Unfortunately, accommodation at the Amphitheatre Backpackers Lodge is already fully booked, but there are other backpackers in the area as well as camping options.

Out of town

New Year’s Festival of Lights, Nieu-Bethesda

The Festival of Lights, Nieu-Bethesda

If you happen to be spending New Year’s in the Karoo, the New Year’s Eve Lantern parade in Nieu-Bethesda is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Make your own lantern and take a night walk through starry Nieu-Bethesda with locals and children. There will also be a braai and a surprise performance.
